The Hunt (Dark Times RPG and MOC)

Although this MOC may seem like it's slightly lower quality than my previous ones, there is a reason for that - this MOC was built for the three day challenge which started on Friday the 28th and ended on Monday the 31st. For those participating in the challenge, all they had to do was build the newest target mission. If they managed to construct their MOC before the 31st, they would receive an extra ten Credtis (basically points). My build depicts my character for the RPG, who with his companions is hunting down a Duros (a blue-headed alien).

Approximate build time: 8 hours

Number of pieces: about 750

Availability of the pieces: Besides maybe the rope with spots for clips on it, none of the pieces in this MOC are rare, I can assure you of that.

Favorite part of the build process: There are really only three parts of this MOC - the tower, the scrap metal, and the base. Although the scrap metal is kind-of fun to build, I was building at 11 something PM. I couldn't really appreciate, it seeing as though I was so tired. So my favorite part of making this MOC is easily constructing the tower (the terrain doesn't put up much of a fight - it's rather dull work placing on a bunch of plates and tiles).

Level of difficulty: Hard

Below is the story that went with this MOC for the RPG:

After reaching Ord Mantell, it soon became clear that we weren't the only ones who had received information about this job. Smugglers and bounty hunters alike were everywhere; patrolling the streets, inside cantinas, on top of buildings, etc. At fist, I thought this job was going to be impossible and wondered if it would be best to return to our little repair shop on Corellia. But, as I began to propose we find a different and easier job, Marcus suddenly gestured to a cloaked figure near us. One glance told me he was a Duros - the blue skin and red eyes were unmistakable.

Unfortunately for us, we weren't the first to notice the alien and already a couple of and bounty hunters had reached the Duros and disarmed him. Nevertheless, we approached the bounty hunters - perhaps if they were kind enough they'd give us a share of the reward. If they weren't, we'd fight them for the prize.

No sooner had we reached the bounty hunters when one of the called out,

"Forget it! It's another one of hos frauds."

"Frauds?" I asked.

"Yep. The Empire's been paying Duros to come to Ord Mantell to make it harder to locate the real traitor" he replied.

Well, this complicated things immensely. Over the next few hours we encountered over ten Duros, and every time they turned out to be frauds. Finally, I approached Marcus with a suggestion.

"Listen, why don't we split up? It may be easier to find the traitor that way"

It was evident that Marcus didn't think the idea of separating our little group in a place full of bounty hunters. Before he could reply however, Braik, our best mechanic, pointed to a hunched figure who was walking near us accompanied by an officer and a platoon of soldiers.

"I'd bet my life that's the traitor - none of the imposters had an armed escort" he said

"Well sure, but we don't even know f that's a Duros or not" said Veto.

"Only one way to find out" cried Kas, and ran at the platoon brandishing his quarterstaff.

"Help that fool!" shouted Marcus, who likewise ran at the platoon, firing bolts as he went.

Marcus evidently didn't know Kas that well - I knew he alone would be more than enough to take down the small platoon of 8 soldiers. Still, we ran at the group of troopers and made quick work of them. In the heat of the battle, no one noticed the Duros and the imperial officer who ran off at an alarming speed. I however managed to toss my tracker on the cloaked figure.

I whipped out my fob and looked at the display screen.

"They're heading for the spaceport - we'll have to cut them off before they reach it" I said.

"What in the name of a Wampa is that?" asked Marcus gesturing to my fob.

"My custom fob/mapper," I replied. "I created it to be able to track targets like a regular fob, however it also creates a map of the surroundings showing me the easiest way to reach my target."

"This is no time for chit-chat," said Veto. "We're getting nowhere. We just attacked an Imperial platoon and for what? We didn't catch the suspect and now the empire's going to want us dead for killing eight of their soldiers."

"Hang on, yup, the suspect's a Duros," I said, staring at my fob.

"What? How do you know?" asked Marcus.

"My trackers are able to determine the species of the person I'm tracking by observing their behavior, such as gait, breathing frequency, heart beat and such. They can also paralyze a target and issue blood test, but I don't believe either of those is a good idea right now - the paralyzing apparatus has malfunctioned due to the heat and the blood test is really only to determine exactly who the target is, for example his pr her name, age, etc."

Marcus looked at me in stunned awe. "Could you make me one of those?" he asked.

I smirked. "Sorry, I don't even think I remember how I programmed this thing, so even inf you got me all of the expensive materials are needed, I don't think I could make you one anyway.

"Alright, then what are we waiting for? Let's chase that Duros?" growled Braik. And he ran off in the direction in which the Duros had ran away.

We all ran after him, me calling directions to our group as we ran. Finally, we reached a tower on the outskirts of the city.

"There he is!" called Kas, completely ruining the element of surprise.

The Duros immediately took off towards the tower and threw what looked like a brown and black wall against the tower. Immediately, a rope appeared which the Duros began to climb up.

"Kas, Braik; take on the officer., We and Veto will get the Duros. Vace, try to get that paralyzer up'n running" said Kas, and he too started climbing up the rope, Veto firing bolts up to make sure the Duros didn't fire on Marcus as he was climbing.

Kas and Braik were making quick work of the officer who had tried in vain to defend himself.

I looked at my fob again and tried to get the paralyzers online again. With any luck, we'll be able to capture the Duros without him even firing a single shot.
