Technic

Technic originally was first produced in the year 1977. Though it was produced before the first three LEGO play themes, it wasn't considered a play theme because it was mainly used for educational purposes. The theme first consisted of regular LEGO bricks with an assortment of gears and axles that are still used today. The theme was first named the expert builder series in 1977, but was later renamed Technic in 1984. In its' later years new pieces were introduced for the theme, including the Technic beam which is used in many different themes today. In 1998 the LEGO Mindstorms theme was introduced which allowed you to build and program robots built out of LEGO bricks. Most bricks that it used were LEGO Technic bricks. The sets sold well which led to the LEGO Mindstorms theme in 2006. This led to the creation of Power Function pieces in 2007 which lit up and moved for LEGO fans that had a lower budget. Technic was also the beginning of the Bionicle theme. In all the Bionicle sets at the bottom of each box there was the word Technic ( Later on Bionicle got its' own theme). To this day Technic is one of the best selling LEGO themes and a huge addition to the LEGO universe.
